Alex joined the firm in August 2011 after completing a clerkship with the Honorable Roger L. Wollman of the Eighth Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals. His areas of concentration include civil litigation and commercial law. He seeks to develop additional experience in appellate practice and federal Indian law.

Alex earned his J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2010, where he served as editor-in-chief of volume 55 of the South Dakota Law Review. He graduated with Sterling Honors and was selected for the Gavel Award by the law school faculty. While in law school, he competed in several national moot court and trial advocacy competitions and was chosen as Best Defense Advocate in the 2010 Capitol City Challenge hosted by American University.

Before law school, Alex attended the University of Chicago, graduating cum laude with a B.A. in English Literature in 2003. He earned an M.Ed from Montana State University in 2006 while working as a high school teacher. He and his wife Blayne live in Sioux Falls.
